Ruchaka means bright, appealing and radiant. Ruchaka Yoga is the yoga of a strong and prominent Mars, the planet of energy, courage and action. It is one of the five Pancha Mahapurusha yogas.
How Ruchaka Yoga forms
- Mars is in his own sign or exaltation sign. His own signs are Aries and Scorpio. His exaltation sign is Capricorn.
- That sign is a kendra from the Lagna: the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house.

- Physical energy. A liking for sport, exercise, outdoor work or physical skill.

- Technical and practical skill. Mars rules machines, tools, fire, land and construction. Engineers, surgeons, builders, athletes and people in the uniformed services often have a prominent Mars.
The same energy needs a channel. A strong Mars with no outlet shows as impatience and a short temper. Regular physical activity and work with clear targets suit this yoga well.
How the house changes the result
- 1st house. The qualities are part of the body and temperament: an athletic, direct and independent person.
