Still being in India, Patriarch Bodhidharma sent two of his students,
Fo To and Yeh She, to China, to communicate the Path of sudden Enlightenment. However, no one, even the Chinese monks, speak to them. Thus, they went to Lu Shan, where they met the Honourable Great Teacher Yuan Kung, who was the only one speaking about the void ness of Mind.
Honourable Yuan asked the two monks, this way, "What is the Dharma you teach, that let everyone with indifference and make all act with disrespect against you?" The two monks were not familiar with Chinese language, and tried to communicate with hand signals.
Thus, they raised their hands meaning, "Look! The hand forms the fist and the fist forms the hand. Isn't it quick and hence remarkable?"
Venerable Yuan consented by nodding his head. "Enlightenment and Tranquillity are as fast", they continued.
From that moment, Master Yuan attained Enlightenment, knowing at first that Enlightenment and Peacefulness are not of any difference, for Enlightenment is Peacefulness and Peacefulness is Enlightenment.
Master Yuan gave offerings to these two monks kneeling down in front of them and crying. The two Indian monks smiled and bowed to Yuan, kneeling down in front of him, and attained Nirvana in that position.
Their tombs are still in Lou Mountain.Similar Posts :
