Bhrigu Nandi Nadi (BNN) is one of the most practical Nadi systems of Indian astrology. Instead of starting from the Lagna and house lords, it reads the chart from the planets themselves, each standing for a person or a theme, and from the way they link to one another by sign.
We have published more than fifty articles on BNN. This page sums up the core rules in one place and indexes every article, grouped by theme, so you can find the one you need.
1. Planets are karakas. Each planet signifies people and themes:
| Planet | Main significations in BNN |
|---|---|
| Jupiter | The native (in a man's chart), wisdom, children |
| Venus | Wife, comforts, vehicles, money (and the native in many readings of a woman's chart) |
| Saturn | Work, profession, karma, servants, the masses |
| Mars | Brothers, land, energy, technical skill (and the husband in a woman's chart) |
| Sun | Father, government, authority, soul |
| Moon | Mother, mind, public |
| Mercury | Education, business, friends, speech |
| Rahu and Ketu | Unusual turns, foreign links, obstacles and release |
2. Jupiter is the starting point. Many BNN readings count houses from Jupiter rather than from the Lagna. See the 12 houses counted from Jupiter and why Jupiter becomes your first house.
3. Planets combine by sign. Two planets are read together when they are in the same sign, in trine (the 1st, 5th and 9th signs from each other), or in the 2nd, 12th or 7th sign from each other. The pair then describes one life theme.
4. Sign nature matters. The element and nature of the sign a planet occupies change how it acts. See the rashi characteristics in BNN.
5. Transits trigger events. The movement of Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu over the natal planets is used to time results.

These articles apply the rules to well-known charts. Birth data for public figures varies between sources, so treat them as teaching examples.
BNN combinations show tendencies and life themes. As with any system, read them calmly and together with the whole chart, not as fixed verdicts.
Bhrigu Nandi Nadi (BNN) is a Nadi system of astrology that reads a chart mainly from the planets and the signs they occupy, using each planet as a karaka (significator), rather than relying on the Lagna and house lords as Parashari astrology does.
In a man's chart, Jupiter is taken as the native (Jeeva karaka). Other planets stand for people and themes, for example Venus for the wife and Saturn for work and karma. Many BNN writers use Venus for the native in a woman's chart.
Planets are read together when they are in the same sign, in trine (1st, 5th or 9th sign) from each other, or in the 2nd, 12th or 7th sign from each other. Each combination describes a theme, such as Jupiter with Saturn for a working life of duty.
BNN relies mostly on the signs of the planets, which do not change within a few hours, so it can be used even when the birth time is uncertain. The Lagna is used less than in Parashari astrology.
