In traditional Vedic astrology, your birth chart is a complex map of twelve zodiac signs (Rashis) distributed across twelve houses (Bhavas). The sign on the 1st house (your Ascendant or Lagna) changes every two hours. This system is powerful but requires precise birth time and deep mathematical calculation.
The twelve zodiac signs-Aries, Taurus, Gemini, and so on-have no predictive meaning in the Red Book (Lal Kitab). They are mentioned only as placeholders. When a traditional chart says "Sun in Aries in the 1st house," the Lal Kitab sees only "Sun in the 1st house." The sign is scrapped, ignored, discarded. This is the first and most radical simplification of the system.
The term Lal Kitab does not use Rashis at all is not true.

-
Even in Lal Kitab:
-
The original birth chart still has a real ascendant
-
Lal Kitab overlays a fixed-house interpretation, but does not erase reality
-
Predictions depend on:
-
Planet in house
-
Planet relationships (friend/enemy)
-
Conjunctions
-
Empty houses
-
Special Lal Kitab rules (like “sleeping planets”, “activated houses”)
-
Unlike classical Vedic Astrology:
So, interpretation is not just “planet in house = result”
Because Lal Kitab:
So, people assume:
“Only houses matter”
But actual Lal Kitab readers do more than that.
A more accurate statement would be:
-
Lal Kitab treats the horoscope as a fixed-house system based on natural zodiac
-
Houses are primary
-
Signs are secondary (not zero)
-
Planet behaviour + remedies are the real key
Assume:
-
Lagna = Virgo
-
Saturn = 4th house
-
Mars = 7th house
-
Moon = 11th house
Now we interpret this using:
-
Parashara Astrology

Lal Kitab

Struggles in:
-
Home comfort
-
Property matters

Meaning:
-
Emotional suppression at home
-
Distance from mother or lack of emotional bonding
-
Comfort and happiness related to home are delayed or disturbed
-
The person becomes internally heavy (emotionally burdened)
Focus:
-
House karma (home, mother)
-
Saturn’s nature (delay, burden)
Remedy example:
Key driver: House + planet behaviour
-
7th from Virgo = Pisces
-
Mars in Pisces
Meaning:
-
Manglik influence
-
Aggression in marriage
-
But Pisces softens:
Marriage = passion + confusion
Meaning:
-
Conflict in relationships
-
Dominance issues with spouse
-
Legal disputes possible
-
Sexual imbalance / aggression
Strong warning placement in Lal Kitab
Remedy example:
-
11th from Virgo = Cancer
-
Moon in own sign

Very positive placement
Meaning:
Not purely positive - more psychological angle
